That’s the story behind China’s National Science and Technology Awards, announced July 8, 2025. A total of 258 projects and 11 scientists were recognized.

Chips for new energy smart vehicles — which is currently the world’s most active chip application market, but nearly 90% of the supply chain is controlled by a few Western and Japanese giants.
When you dig deeper, the emphasis isn’t on flashy breakthroughs. It’s on a sober, almost boring kind of persistence.
